Monday, September 29th
SFMO Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Database Program
  Six-hour, hands-on training class on using the JFIP database for local Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Programs personnel; it is an excellent tool for local collection and maintenance of juvenile records, as well as a mechanism for easily transmitting data for statewide collection. The software is free to Texas departments with intervention programs. A user's guide accompanies the software. Knowledge of Microsoft Access is NOT required or necessary for participating in this class.
Tuesday;, September 30th
NFPA 101 Year 2000 to 2003 Integration
A session on integrating the new 2003 NFPA Life Safety Code and the changes from the year 2000 model, including a comprehensive overview of the changes in the 2003 edition (as well as the Life Safety Code application by State Agencies, especially the SFMO).
SFMO TEXFIRS
A general overview of the TEXFIRS/NFIRS program. The requirements for reporting and the uses of data collection will be discussed. Participants will be provided a reporting package and will review the various modules of the reporting system.
County Fire Marshal Forum
Discussion of issues facing county fire marshals and the effects of recent legislation. This is your opportunity to ask questions and present problems and challenges to your department and listen to responses from other fire marshals on how they address the same issues.
Fire Prevention Programs & Resources
A discussion of the various types of fire prevention programs and resources available to the fire service.
Arson Lab Evidence Analysis
A four hour class on evidence collection, preservation of evidence and lab analysis.
Fire Prevention- 5 Step Program
Explains the Public Fire Education Five Step Planning process for designing, implementing and evaluating a public fire education program.
Fire Service Funding
Discussion on marketing your funding needs, preparing proposals, finding funding and improving services to your community. This session will be an interactive session and will run in the morning and will continue in the afternoon.

Legislative Update
TDI Legal staff will discuss the legislation passed in the 78th Legislative Session.
State Agency Updates
Changes in legislation and rules that impact fire marshal inspection programs from DHS, PRS, and TCEQ.
Crazy Water - Lessons Learned
Presentation from those directly involved on the history, and outcomes of the Crazy Water Hotel Case. Emphasis on the decision making processes and co-operation between the local and State Fire Marshal Offices and the Office of Attorney General. What can be done with the "Crazy Water" in your home town.
SFMO Fire Industry Licensing
A discussion of fireworks rules and regulations which have changed regarding fire industry licensing.

Fire Code Analysis - What are the differences?
An objective presentation on the evolving code processes, including the differing perspectives of the code making organizations. A representative from ICC and NFPA will discuss their codes with the audience.
L.O.D.D Preparation and Benefit Class
How to be prepared in the event of a line of duty death and the benefits available to the fire service.
Assembly Occupancy Inspections
A presentation of assembly inspections from the night club to the auditorium, from design to use.

911 Issues
A presentation on 911 issues affecting fire marshals and the fire service.
Line of Duty Death Investigations Findings
Discussion of findings from investigations done on line of duty deaths within Texas since September 2001.
Pipeline Public Awareness
Discussion of the need for pipeline awareness and safety within your community.
Fire Marshal Forum
An opportunity for the fire service to discuss issues addressed or not addressed during the conference.
